The day I decided to just buy a plane ticket to Miri.

It was almost the end of the year. I can't wait for 2014 to be over. I can't wait to apply for my end-of-year leave as I always do and rot myself on my bed reading the remaining chic lit that I intend to finish since January 2014. One book for a year yo! That explains my poor vocab and all.

But, this year, it was a limited room for leave, not that my leave is diminishing but I just can't take off and be an irresponsible adult. Hence, only one day leave, on Boxing Day.

Group chat was buzzing as usual and suddenly my friend and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Miri just to hang out with school friends who will be celebrating Christmas in Miri. Guess when we decided on that? December 23rd yo! Can you imagine the price of airline ticket during that time of the year? And..it's only to Miri and not Singapore or KL. Erghhh. My wallet is draining the day I received my salary.

We contemplated between using bus or air plane because damn it! the bus fare for a return trip for Kuching - Miri - Kuching is nearing RM200 and I don't feel like spending that amount of money just to break my back. 15 hours on the road? No, thank you very much and this comes from ME, the most kiam siap person in the world. Next option is to go by air which cost around RM50 - RM80 extra but I can cut the travel time and no breaking my back bone although it drain my wallet completely. After cursing session  further deliberation, we ended up taking airplane to Miri on 25 December 2014, the first flight out.

DAY 1

Miri Airport

We reached Miri at 830am (we took the first flight out, so eager to go to Miri for no reason at all, ha ha) and rented a Proton Saga BML or BLM, I suck at that so let's leave it at that.

Since we got a ride for the whole day, we thought we can go to Brunei (erk, so gung ho laaa use rent car go Brunei) but later decided not to because we can't cross the border if the car is tint (glass). Furthermore it's a rental car, we need some sort of clearance letter of whatever letter laaa to cross the border.

Given the drawback, we opted to check in at a hostel (ha ha ha pay almost RM300 for plane tix but stay at RM50/day hostel) and look for food after settling down. Lucky for us we can check in before 12noon. Oh ya, we are staying at a place called HOMESTAY. Thanks to WAZE we reached the hostel safely but at the same time, the app disappoint us BIG TIME. More on that later.

My Homestay

Thank god the hostel is located at the city center and foods are easily accessible. Left right front back kopitiams. Not to mention it is actually IN FRONT / OPPOSITE of PERMAISURI IMPERIAL MALL. If you are tired of local kopi, want to go to an atas place, Starbucks is just across the road.

We headed for much needed breakfast because perut already lapar, so to Kaya and Toast we go. Same building baah.

My Homestay

I can't remember the exact amount that we are paying but I'm sure it is less than RM100 each for 3D2N stay. The facilities are great for a hostel. Complete privacy except for the shared bathroom (stay at a hostel, what do you expect, haiyaaa). Google them for their number. Sorry can't help much.

Perut sudah kenyang hati sudah gembira maka kami keluar jalan-jalan ke shopping complex. The first mall we went was Boulevard Shopping Mall. Christmas deco is sooooo happening. Ha ha ha!!

Boulevard Miri

The SALE is incredible. You won't find such amazing SALE in Kuching. Damn it! That's why Mirians donned cool clothes, it's affordable to own a branded clothes in Miri. Pindah ke Miri jak kita tokkkkk.

Done with shopping at Boulevard, we decided to go to Merdeka Mall. I'm a Sarawakian but I'm not a Mirian so my friend and I rely solely on WAZE. Thank you WAZE for bringing us at an empty plot of land. I am so shocked that I don't even bother to document the place in digital form because I'm super tired and the weather is so damn hot! So, based on our gut feeling, we drove back to town and surprise...surprise...Merdeka Mall is by the road side on the way to town. Pfffttt...

Merdeka Mall

The mall seems to be quite empty, not due to Christmas but it's not fully occupies yet. There's Ta Kiong, Grand Supermart, local tenants and ... hmm a cineplex? Let's just say, If I ever go to Miri again, I will not waste my time coming here unless if I got nothing better to do.

Time travel is possible when you shop at Ta Kiong, Merdeka Mall. Not being bias or anything, but I prefer Kuching's Ta Kiong compared to this and Sibu's ones.

Lame joke aside, once we are done at Merdeka Mall, we head to.... the beach!!! This is the best part of Miri (for me la...). To Luak Bay Esplanade we go!

Luak Bay Esplanade

The wind is rather strong that day and the wave is how do I interpret it? Strong?

Nevertheless, the beach is always the best place to lepak. Tengok sunset, tengok orang dating. furthermore, in Miri, no one knows me so senang lepak sampai lebam.

We waited for the sun to set, alang alang you are at the beach, why not wait for a bit kan?

Luak Bay Esplanade

Who doesn't love sunset? I know I do. Minus the mosquito.

Luak Bay Esplanade

And I loves pokok too! From afar..not up close lar. If up close I scared the pokok would patah and timpak me. Scary thoughts!

OK, mushy session habis. Hari mulai gelap. Perut lapa sudah so we went to Restoren Muara for their famous Nasi Lelapan.

Saya bukan seorang foodie but the amount on my plate enough to cover kelaparan saya yang sentiasa lapar itu.

Restoren Muara - Nasi Lalapan

Dah makan, we go back to the to freshen up. Malam masih muda ... lepas siap semua, pergi ini tempat I tidak tahu nama but it's very happening laaa (at night) for another makan session. Yes, 2 girls wandering aimlessly in Miri memang suka makannnn.

So, we lepak here...the place that I never bother to know the name because .. I oso dono why I so malas ohhh

And we ended the night having this and teh tarik. I didn't order anything because I'm still full from Nasi Lalapan earlier. This is supposed to be Penang Char Kuey Tiaw? Looks like Maggi to me. Ha ha ha

End of Day 1. Fuhhhhh... damn this retrieving photo from Google is hard work. I don't know if I have the energy to blog about Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4.

But.. but... I need to preserve my "adventures" here... adventure la sangat!
