It's been a while and so much have happened in the past months. It's a major turn around for me since June but that's another story for another day.
Anyway, let me share with you my dear electronic journal, my take on Legoland Malaysia. I always love looking at cute Lego figurines especially The Simpsons collection (fyi I don't collect them, I just look at them at Toys R Us or any other toy shops in town) and after spending the day before at Universal Studio Singapore (as a benchmark for theme park in the region), my expectation IS (at that time) extremely HIGH.
Can you imagine my expectation for the FIRST Legoland in Asia after all the hype? The most anticipated Lego based Theme Park plus the adverts are kinda drawing you to the place and all... Anyway..it's a letdown. I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED. That RM140 (Combo Water & Theme Park purchased online) is totally wasted (friggin' ridiculous for a so-so amusement park) . BUT if you have your children with you and they love Lego, maybe.. just maybe this is the place to be. As for me, let's just say that there will not be a second visit if I have to pay from my own pocket.
GETTING THERE
For those who are eager to check the place out and you are from outside of Johor (like yours truly), you can go to Legoland by bus, LM1 if you are from JB Sentral OR JPO 2 if you are rooting to CIQ 2nd Link and do check Causeway Link *click* website for their schedule and fare. The fare is RM4.50 (one way from JB Sentral) and since the route to Legoland Malaysia which is located at Nusajaya is not congested at all (I kid you not - during weekdays), you will reach the place 30 - 45 minutes from JB Sentral (because the bus stops at Larkin - Hello Kitty Town - Legoland - Gelang Patah).
If you are lucky, the bus will stop you at Legoland bus stop which require you to walk farther in (but you know you are at the right place when you see the figurine photo on the bust stop board). But since it's just the three of us going to Legoland that morning, our stop is at Mall of Medina. Mind you, there is no Legoland entrance sign. When you reach there, you will see Legoland Hotel but not the uber famous Legoland entrance. YOU NEED TO ASK THE GUARD AT MALL OF MEDINA (can't remember the exact name). You basically have to enter Mall of Medina which houses mostly fast food restaurant such as Gloria Jean's, Chicken Rice Shop among others.
For those who are driving, you may be at lost since there is no signage telling you it's Legoland or bla bla bla.
MY TAKE
Anyway, I don't like the place at all, both Theme and Water Park (will only visit the place for the second time if someone is willing to pay for my entrance fee but trust me, it's not worth your money UNLESS you wanted to buy all the Lego collectibles, it's only good for collectors). I mean, upon entering the place it feels like you are in a library or something. A theme park is not supposed to be quite (even though it's a weekday and visitors are rather low in number). Pump up your stereo lar pok!
They claimed that the Water Park is the largest water park (of all existing Legoland) and they only have slides (of course of different variant but still.. slides? common mannnn), not so large pool (supposed to be wave pool or something but since it's not operating that day, it became a normal pool which is you can just laze around (the highest depth is 1.4m) , kiddy areas (I refer it as kiddy are because it's literally for kids and us adult just play around lar since we already paid a "handsome" amount to "splash" ourselves. Oh, oh... before I forget, the locker at the Water Park sucks! Sucks BIG time. You have to pay RM20 (for a small locker) and RM40 (for a BIG locker) for the whole day BUT it kept on "not recognizing your prints". Yeap, you read it correctly, you need to scan you finger (finger, not fingers) to rent and reopen the locker or you may use pin numbers but it kinda suck too. It's a hassle when you are paying for the friggin' technology and it failed on you. And.. you have to wait for the staff to take the key and waste your time telling them you did rent the locker and it could not be reopened. Haiyaaaa!
Overall, I am RM140 poorer and unsatisfied. You could have done better! For such an expensive fee, why do we need to pay extra for body dryer and games? Booo factor numero uno.
Anyhooo, it's all in the past. So let's just sit back and let me upload all the photo. Weee hooo!
WORTH CHECKING OUT
Although I am disappointed with the parks (both Theme and Water) but I think here are some of the section worth checking:
(a) Adventure Land - It's a ride where you embarked on a "journey" into a cave of some sort ...well, your boat have to "climb" the "mountain" and later on it will slide down in a fast motion and you will get splashed. You will get wet. Body dryer is provided but you have to pay RM10 to use it. Boooo!
The only rides that I feel worth checking out. You will get wet and do not use the body dryer if you are a cheapskate like me, you need to pay RM10 to use that damn thing. Gosh!
(b) Mini Land - Well, this is the reason I wanted to go to Legoland Malaysia. I thought I would be amused but I ended up feeling meh. But still..OK la..
Phone was running out of juice and damn the place is super hot. Warm. Panas.
It is very quiet and I feel as if I'm in a library with no aircond on. I have few photos but mannn uploading takes forever.
(c) Entrance , Brick Shop or any other shop that sells Lego collections - Well.. if you are a collector and a big fan of Lego bricks, this is the place for you. You may never want to go home. Ha ha ha as for me I did not buy anything since I'm already poorer by RM140, so I ended up looking around.
The uber famous entrance. It look grand on their website and all. This is taken with my Note 2. I got no camera baby!
We are entitled for our own opinion and mine is slanting towards no, I don't like this place at all. Upon entering, it's super quiet and you barely hear any sound. Was it because of working days and the visitors are much less? We are a paying visitors too and we are entitled to some fun hey!
Should have use that RM140 for something more rewarding. Another trip to USS perhaps? Ha ha ha. And I think the entry fee should only cause RM50 or less.
